How To Get There
    Easiest-Terminal At Long Beach Near Long Beach Airport
       Catalina Express

As for transportation ,

The best is to take the Catalina Express boat from Long Beach , CA.
The trip takes about 1 hour from Long Beach to the island (Avalon)

You can easily get to the boat terminal from Long Beach Airport by taxi

Long Beach Yellow Cab

If you fly into LAX airport :
Take the boat either from San Pedro (about 1.15 hr trip) or Long Beach (about 1 hr trip)

You can take a cab from LAX or take

Prime Time Shuttle

http://www.primetimeshuttle.com (about $32 per person, one way, can take up to two hours to get to the boat terminal)


Alternatively, if you are flying into LAX, it might be easier to take a boat from Marina Del Rey (we have not tried it so we cannot vouch for it)
